Neighbourhood SEO that matches how Vancouver searches

We help your website show up when people search by Vancouver area, building type or problem, using a small set of genuinely useful pages instead of hundreds of thin ones.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

Neighbourhood SEO means making your website the natural answer when someone in Vancouver searches for what you do in the way they actually phrase it. That might be by area ("electrician Mount Pleasant"), by building ("strata window cleaning"), or by problem ("basement suite smells damp"). We build a small number of strong pages around those searches and tune the rest of your site so Google understands where you work.

It is marketing and writing work only. We are not a contractor and don't perform or inspect any trade work.

Three patterns show up again and again when we research local searches in this city:

  • Area names that aren't official. The City lists 22 local planning areas, but residents also search by names like Gastown, Yaletown, Commercial Drive, Little Italy or simply "East Van". Your pages need to use the words people use, not only the official ones.
  • Building-type searches. Because so many people live in apartments, condos and suites, searches often include "strata", "condo", "suite" or "rental". A page that explains how you handle access, noise rules and building managers answers a question competitors ignore.
  • Problem-first searches. People describe the symptom, not the service: "fence leaning after storm", "ceiling stain under bathroom". Pages that explain the problem honestly attract enquiries earlier in the decision.

Who it is for

This service suits businesses that already have a working website and a reasonably complete map listing (see Google Business Profile) and now want a steady flow of organic enquiries that doesn't depend on paying for every click. It works well for trades, cleaners, movers, tutors, studios and specialist shops whose customers come from a few clear parts of the city.

What is included

  1. Search research. We collect the searches that matter for your business and group them by area, building type and problem.
  2. Area choice. Together we pick two to five neighbourhoods or area groups where you want more work, based on your job history and travel time.
  3. Cornerstone pages. We write a handful of pages with real local substance: what is different about the housing or businesses there, the jobs you typically do, practical tips, and photos from actual work.
  4. On-page fixes. Titles, headings, internal links, image descriptions and structured data, so Google can read your site clearly.
  5. Technical health. Speed, mobile usability, broken links and indexing issues, checked and fixed.
  6. Local mentions. Accurate listings on directories and local organisations that matter, such as your Business Improvement Area if you are a member.

What we won't do

The Google spam policies are clear that pages created only to rank for each place name, with little unique value, count as doorway abuse. We don't build them, we don't buy links, and we don't publish AI filler under your name. If your site already has dozens of thin area pages, part of the work is usually merging or removing them.

Timeline

  • Month 1: research, area choice, technical fixes and a written page plan.
  • Months 2–3: the first cornerstone pages go live after your review.
  • Months 3–6: more pages as needed, internal linking, local mentions, and the first meaningful trend in search traffic.
  • Every month: a short report and a call if you want one.

How results are measured

We look at search impressions and clicks for your target areas and topics (from Google Search Console), enquiries that came from organic search, and which pages produced them. Ranking positions are tracked too, but we treat them as a signal rather than the goal. The goal is enquiries from the right parts of the city, at a cost per enquiry lower than paid ads.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Copying a competitor's area pages. If theirs are thin, you inherit their problem.
  • Targeting the whole city at once. Start where your jobs already cluster and expand from there.
  • Chasing traffic instead of enquiries. A blog post that ranks for a national question may bring visitors from Ontario who will never call.
  • Forgetting nearby municipalities. If you also work in Burnaby or Richmond, say so clearly on one well-written page rather than ten copies.

Read our areas overview to see how we think about each part of the city, check the pricing page, or compare this with Google Ads if you need enquiries sooner.

Frequently asked questions

Should I have a page for every Vancouver neighbourhood?

Almost never. Twenty-two near-identical pages with the area name swapped are what Google calls doorway pages. A few pages with real local substance, for the areas you most want, will do far more good.

How long does SEO take to work?

Expect three to six months before changes show clearly in traffic and enquiries, longer in crowded categories. Technical fixes and better page titles can help sooner, but SEO is a steady build, not a switch.

Do you write the content or do I?

We write it, based on a short interview with you and photos or notes from real jobs. You review every page before it goes live, because your name is on it and you know the work.

Can you promise page-one rankings?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We can promise a clear plan, honest reporting and pages that deserve to rank.
